How We're Different
Over budget. Behind schedule. Calls that never get returned. Those are the three things homeowners dread most about hiring a contractor, and they are the reason Custom Deck Creations exists. We were founded to put the client experience above all else, and we back it up in writing.

WHY WE EXIST
The Three Things Homeowners Dread About Hiring a Contractor
Ask anyone who has hired a contractor what went wrong, and you will hear the same three stories: the price grew, the start date slipped, and nobody returned their calls. Custom Deck Creations was founded in 2017 to fix exactly that…
The fear
“What if it goes over budget?”
Our answer
No Surprise Costs Guarantee
We have built 1,000+ decks and have never charged more than the agreed-upon price. Not once. The number on your signed agreement is the number you pay.
Even when it means we lose money on the job.
The fear
“What if they never show up?”
Our answer
Start On-Time Guarantee
We have started 100% of our projects on time for nearly 10 years. If we do not start building within the proposed start window for reasons within our control, we take $1,000 off your project.
Once we start your deck, we stay on it until it is done. No job-hopping.
The fear
“What if I can’t get anyone on the phone?”
Our answer
One Point of Contact, Every Step
You get one dedicated project manager and a crew that works on one project at a time: yours. Every call and email gets a reply within one business day, usually much faster, and you will always know what happens next.
OUR WHY
Client Experience Above All Else
Custom Deck Creations started with a deck that never got built. In 2017, founder Phil Black set out to have a deck built at his own home in Canton. He called the TrexPro Platinum builders in the area. Only a few called back, and not one of them came out to the house.
So Phil and his wife took the money they had set aside for the deck and started a deck company instead: the one he wished he had found as a homeowner. Responsive. Communicative. Transparent about price. Professional on site, and focused on the client from the first call to the final walkthrough.
That experience became our #1 core value, Client Experience Above All Else. It shows up as consultations that educate instead of pressure, pricing you see up front, craftsmanship built to outlast the warranty, and a company that stands behind the finished deck.

HOW WE BUILD
Built Above Code. Backed for Life.
A deck should outlast the people who built it. Ours are backed by a Lifetime Transferable Workmanship & Materials Warranty, and the only way we can make that promise is by building every deck to a higher standard than code requires, with innovative techniques most builders skip.
- Built above what code requires. Code is the minimum a deck must meet to pass inspection. We design and build beyond it, because a deck that just passes is not a deck that lasts a lifetime.
- Rot-proof galvanized steel ground screws instead of concrete footings: no digging, no curing, no torn-up yard, and a foundation that will never rot.
- Waterproofed joists and beams so the frame under your deck boards is protected from the moisture that ruins most decks.
- Stronger, safer critical connections at the ledger, posts, and stairs, the places where decks fail.
- Zero visible face screws on the decking, for a clean surface and no fastener heads to catch bare feet.
Covers the materials and the workmanship for as long as the deck stands, and it transfers to the next owner if you sell your home.

Higher Quality.
Most of our crews have built over 100 decks and have upwards of 15 years of experience specializing in deck design and build. We don’t pretend to be a “jack-of-all trades, expert-in-none” generalized construction company. All we do is composite decks. We stand behind our work with a workmanship and labor guarantee. Once we start your project, we do not job-hop and start another.
Designed For You.
Details Matter.
Hassle-Free.
Guaranteed.
We stand behind our work. Every deck Custom Deck Creations builds is covered by our own Lifetime Transferable Workmanship & Materials Warranty. It covers the materials and the work for as long as the deck stands, and it stays with the deck if you sell your home. That is a level of protection you will not find with any other deck builder in Michigan.
We Offer Financing.
No Surprises.
You’ll know what you’re buying before you sign anything. After setting up an initial call for us to learn more about what you’re envisioning for your new backyard space, we’ll schedule a consultation to design your dream deck. We’ll create multiple 3D renderings of various deck designs to really fine tune the details.
