Design phase was with Donte their design consultant. Went over all the options, materials, and pricing. Smooth operation. Then some patience is required before deck construction start date since this is a busy company. My next interface was with ground screw installer Jason. The consummate gentleman. He explained the whole process and got it done. Biggest interface was with the deck builder DJ. I honored to get a true craftsman to BUILD my deck. DJ is a meticulous fit and finish kind of guy. Our salesman, Tom Carmody, brought Trex samples out to our home and helped us select the perfect decking materials that complemented our house. Prior to the start of our deck build, Tom provided us with a custom 3 D design rendering to provide a visual.  Additionally, he provided an educational book and videos to refer to so that my husband and I understood the process and what we could expect. Custom Deck Creations took care of Permitting, HOA approval, inspections and more. When our beautiful deck was completed, a final walk through was provided to be sure every detail was perfect. We started with a small deck plan.  During construction, we talked with Jason, our installer, about possible future plans - a patio or an extension or etc.? He made a great suggestion for a larger, more practical, deck.  We immediately decided to change our plans to include his suggestion. We absolutely love the finished product!!!! Custom Deck Creations was fantastic. They came out and met with us, talked us through all the products, how things worked, made suggestions, provided timing and clear communication along the way. Everything was surprisingly easy and they do all the heavy lifting (figuratively and literally). Submitting for HOA, getting permits/inspections with the city, ordering materials and cleanup afterwards. Their team gives weekly and sometimes even daily updates of what to expect and are always available to help answer any questions. Plus they framed and built the whole deck in 3 days of actual work (minus waiting for inspection approvals). We couldn't be happier with our choice and are so grateful to have a space to enjoy this summer for our new home. Our experience was pleasant from start to finish, design and sales was easy, construction was not intrusive and their follow up on minor details prior to final sign off was easy and showed the pride they have in their work. One area I would like to note particularly because I havent seen it in much in other reviews was that I also had a major construction project going on at the same time. A an addition that this deck was abutting to. I really want to call out how good CDC was about working with the other contractors I had on site to make sure they were able to do what they needed to do. Overall, CDC excels at both building decks, and the customer service aspect that comes with it. Thank you!

The team at Custom Deck Creations did an amazing job flipping this old cantalevered deck into a beautiful free standing space that we can actually be proud to show people. They found some damaged wood from the previous deck and patched it up properly before building. The ground screw system made installing sturdy footing simple and they were able to do so in the winter when most traditional places would be forced to stop. The whole team was professional from start to finish, John Mattey setting the hook with a great proposal and presentation to Tarah and Matt managing the schedules and keep us updated. The demo crew handled things quickly and efficiently and our main builder DJ was a machine out in the cold putting the work in to get it done. “Fantastic company. Salesperson Steve was very informative and was not pushy at all. When I had a hiccup with my financing and needed time to work it out Steve gave me plenty of space and simply said once I got it worked out to let them know and that they would love to build my deck for me. No pressure at all. And this was after they had taken a lot of information from me and did some leg work already. Once I was finally ready to proceed Steve made a wonderful 3D model showing me exactly what my deck would look like in accordance to my wanted features. Owner Phil then contacted

me and he made the process painless. He took care of the association approval for me including submitting all the paperwork and following up on the telephone to ensure a smooth approval. Phil also applied for and got all the proper permits needed. Foreman Dan and his crew showed up and built an absolutely beautiful deck. I have received compliments from total strangers who were walking past my home for an evening stroll and felt the need to compliment my deck. During the build I always came out and asked foreman Dan questions and every time, Dan stopped what he was doing and answered every one with zero annoyance. Dan was always very knowledgeable and happy to talk to me. I even texted owner Phil on many late afternoons to ask him questions I had about what the crew did that day and Phil was more than happy to answer every single one, without hesitation or frustration. When Phil found out I just had a newborn, he purchased and sent me a thoughtful gift for my daughter to use on our new deck. It just showed up on my doorstep. What contractor does that? “Michelle and I have been married for 39 yrs. In that time I have never had an experience remotely close to the magnificent job as each and every individual I encountered at Custom Deck Creations.

The construction workers would come and go without fanfare leaving the construction

sight tidy. There were two fellas who were the only ones to work on the deck from framing through completion. They worked in near silence, saws, drills and nailers aside. They were friendly and didn’t mind a next door neighbor pulling up a lawn chair to watch for a couple of hours. 5 Stars

The program manager handles all the communication, that would normally have a homeowner running all over town getting permits and permissions, and setting up city inspections. I never had a clue when those things took place. At the final walk through I had two or three super nit picky issues that he made mental notes of. He passed the information along to the two construction fellas. They were out the next day around noon and gone by 1:30. Revealing an absolutely flawless deck and construction experience. 5 Stars

Summing up the whole experience I would gladly give Custom Deck Creations 15 Stars, however I guess that’s not possible here. Perhaps someone should fix custom Deck Creations.

“Our family used Custom Deck Creations after they were recommended by several of our neighbors who had used them for prior projects. We had a 20-year-old wooden deck that was rotting and very clearly needed significant amounts of work.

Phil came out within a few days of us contacting his company to inspect our deck and discuss options regarding repair versus replacement. We felt that he gave us an

honest opinion regarding the status of our existing deck and its longevity as well as several ways that we could approach the project. We opted for a complete replacement. He sent us several design proposals that we reviewed with him and, after some modifications, settled on a design that we were happy with, using a composite decking with complete replacement of the supports. Except for the initial consultation to inspect the deck and take some measurements, the remainder of the design phase was conducted virtually or through phone conversations. I should note Phil also specifically asked us about our goals for the deck, our expectations of the project, our budget, and the timeline for the project.

The project itself ran smoothly. It took about 2.5-3 weeks from the start of demolition of the old deck to the finished new deck. There were no issues and no pauses in work. DJ, the builder, is extraordinarily talented and was great around our family (and our very curious dog). He took his time to ensure that everything was built to plan and the craftsmanship in his work is readily apparent. Frankly, I’d be hard-pressed to find any differences between the finalized schematics and the finished deck.

In summary, we couldn’t be happier with the process or the finished deck. Phil, Matt, and DJ were easy to work with, communicated clearly about the project, were responsive to any questions or concerns that we had, and built an incredible deck with some challenging design elements. We strongly recommend them and would gladly work with them again if a such a need arose.”

They went through all the pros and cons of material and construction options with me so I could make the best decision for my needs and budget. They also provided written documentation of how they were going to do everything – details on how the support posts would be set, on the structure, and on the deck boards, etc, many of which were beyond what the local building code requires. And then they were able to deliver on what they said they would do. The new support structure for my deck is rock solid, I swear I could park a truck on it. Good communication with me throughout the entire process.

And the finished product is beautiful. I went with a composite deck material.
