40+ Decks Built in South Lyon Since 2017
Custom Deck Creations has built more than 40 decks in South Lyon since 2017, working from our shop in Farmington Hills. Our first core value is client experience above all else, and it shows in how a project runs: our salespeople aren’t salespeople — they’re Design Consultants, here to bring your vision to life — the owner personally manages every job, you approve a 3D design before anything is ordered, and one point of contact keeps you posted through the HOA, the permit and the build, guaranteed on time and on budget.
That trust is backed by things you can hold us to — our Lifetime Transferable Workmanship & Materials Warranty, our No-Surprise Costs Guarantee (the price you sign is the price you pay), and a building method designed to increase the longevity of your deck: rot-proof galvanized steel ground screws instead of poured footings, waterproofing on every joist and beam, plus zero visible face screws. Many South Lyon neighborhoods are newer subdivisions with an HOA, so we handle the HOA submission and the city or township permit for you — our South Lyon customers tell us that, and the way our office keeps them posted through the build, is what they appreciated most.
Ready to change your life with a new outdoor space? We build year-round, even in the winter, so we’re ready when you are.
What South Lyon Homeowners Say
“I can’t recommend Custom Deck Creations enough. The deck turned out fantastic and everyone was great. The salesman, Jeff, was helpful and very friendly. Tarah kept us up to date with the timeline and expectations throughout the process. Danny and his crew did fantastic work and went above and beyond with a few favors we asked. And then Matt took his time and answered all of our questions at the final walkthrough. If you’re looking for a well built deck and exceptional customer service, this is the place.”

“Custom Deck Creations have been from the very start impressive. The sales team were knowledgeable in their products and answered all of our questions. The communication between the office and myself was very responsive. When it came to the tear out of my old deck, wow was that crew fast — very polite, and the clean up was great. The framing crew were fast and professional. Lastly was the deck laying crew: Dan (the leader) is a perfectionist.”

“Fantastic experience from start to finish. Planning was easy, fun and they designed our deck exactly as we envisioned, with some details they suggested. The build process was excellent. Talked to the crew throughout the process and they kept the area super clean. Communication with the main office couldn’t be better — they kept us up to date on every aspect. The project dashboard was nice to have. We couldn’t be happier with our experience and the resulting project.”

South Lyon Deck Questions
Do I need a permit to build a deck in South Lyon?
Yes. Depending on your address, permits go through the City of South Lyon, Lyon Township or Green Oak Township. We figure out which one, pull the permit, submit the drawings, and schedule the inspections — you do not deal with the building department.
How long does a deck take to build in South Lyon?
Once materials are on site, most of our decks are finished in one to three weeks, depending on the size of the project, weather, and inspections. Design, permit and material lead time come before that; we give you the full schedule at the consultation.
Does my HOA need to approve the deck?
If your South Lyon neighborhood has an HOA, usually yes. We prepare the drawings and 3D rendering the HOA asks for and handle the submission with you.
Is Trex worth it over wood in South Lyon?
Michigan winters are hard on wood: staining every couple of years, splintering, rot at the posts. Trex composite needs a hose-down and nothing else. Trex vs wood, in detail.
